Ayurvedic philosophy postulates that the development of each of us is governed by various combinations of the five basic elements: Air, Fire, Water, Earth & Ether. Ayurvedic 'doshas' are organizing bodies of these five elements: VATA (airðer), PITTA (fire&water) and KAPHA (earth&water). Sometimes known as the three humors or constitutions, your dosha is your Ayurvedic body type. A better understanding of your Ayurvedic profile allows you to make better choices around food, exercise, sleep habits etc. By living the life appropriate for YOUR health needs, not one based on someone else's experience, you can enjoy healthier balance.
The aim of an Ayurvedic consultation is to determine the current state of an individuals doshic profile: physically, emotionally & psychologically and to set appropriate diet/lifestyle goals and treatment protocols.
In the initial consultation we will discuss your health history and current issues to best discover which Ayurvedic methods are best for you and strategize a plan for restoring balance in your body. Recommendations may include but not necessarily involve, daily cleansing practices (dinacharya), seasonal cleansing practices (ritucharya), variations of routine, diet, exercise, pranayam (breathing techniques), bodywork, or herbal support.
An in-person meeting is advised so that the physical assessment (pulse taking, tongue diagnosis etc) can be taken into consideration but consultations via zoom are available for those outside the NYC area.
At the end of your session you will have a highly personalized treatment plan with priorities to help you get started. I provide an emailed document following the in-person consult including recipes, food lists and guidelines for all recommendations given during the consult.
